At reading radio the motto is “Empowerment through Information”. Started in 1975 their mission has been to help make information accessible to those who are blind, vision impaired, or who have other reading difficulties.
Currently their mission is to not only provide information but to generate a sense of community among their users.
This opportunity is great for those passionate about helping those who are vision or reading impaired, love (or are looking to improve) public speaking skills, or anyone interested in learning more about the radio.
If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application form. Please note that although the form states only those over 18 are eligible to volunteer this only applies to live broadcasting. There are a number of relevant opportunities for younger volunteers including pre-recording programs.
